It has been a while since the latest song of the day/week. I sincerely apologize for the lack of releases here on my blog recently, there have simply been too many events in my personal life which got me distracted. For the moment this won’t change. I have another important appointment already this Wednesday. But, I do hope to soon be able to spent more time on my blog, do actual songs of the day again, as well as write new regular blogs posts. I haven’t given up on blogging, just lacking time for now.

About the song

For this week, the song chosen is Starset’s Stratosphere, a song with a rather unique back-scene, as well as sound. The link with sci-fi related subjects is clearly there, and I personally love the fact of hearing a more unique sound again. Too often the sound of musicians is really similar these days, possibly because of the huge amount of musicians, making it hard to stay unique. Regardless, I think I won’t be the only one to like this song, so I hope you enjoy. And if this is not your kind of sound, stay tuned until this weekend. There will be another song then, and it’s very different to this one, and closer to what I’ve more recently shared on The Calmth blog.

The song / music video

Lyrics:

[Intro] Stratosphere
Stratosphere

[Verse 1] I saw what you emanate.
I held my hand to take a piece of it with me.
Passed through me, like gamma rays.
It burned my soul to see, a thing with such beauty

[Chorus] Stratosphere, floating in your stare.
Take me far from here.
Are you even there?
I miss the way you felt to breathe,
and it fills me with despair.
Oh, stratosphere, you fill my lungs and take away the air.

[Verse 2] I climb to where the sky fades,
till I’m a castaway, till I asphyxiate.
I caught your eyes, bird of prey,
and I can’t cauterize the open wound you made.

[Chorus] Stratosphere, floating in your stare.
Take me far from here.
Are you even there?
I miss the way you felt to breathe,
and it fills me with despair.
Oh, stratosphere, you fill my lungs and take away the air.

[Bridge] “I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing a threat…
…from outside this world”

(Stratosphere)
(Stratosphere)

[Chorus] Stratosphere, floating in your stare.
Take me far from here.
Are you even there?
I miss the way you felt to breathe,
and it fills me with despair.
Oh, stratosphere, you fill my lungs and take away the air.

[Outro] You fill my lungs and take away the air.
You fill my lungs and take away the air.
