Unfamiliar reflections

In a quiet room, dimly lit,
I stand before the mirror’s frame,
But the reflection that I see,
Feels like a stranger, not the same.

Eyes that once sparkled with life’s zest,
Now seem clouded, lost in thought,
The face that used to wear a smile,
Now carries burdens, battles fought.

The mirror shows a face grown weary,
Lines etched by time and trials faced,
But somewhere deep within my soul,
A trace of youth remains, not erased.

I search for the familiar gaze,
That once looked back with confidence,
But now I question who I am,
In this mirror’s silent recompense.

Yet, as I ponder this reflection,
I realize with each passing day,
We all change and grow, evolve,
In our own unique and winding way.

The mirror may not show the whole,
Of who I am, or who I’ll be,
For the true self lies beyond the glass,
In the heart and soul, forever free.

So, I embrace the changing image,
With acceptance and with grace,
For in this journey of self-discovery,
I find new beauty in every face.
